Vacant Lot Recovery

Vacant lots hold the potential to become sustainable spaces for the Swissvale Community.  A group of college interns from the University of Pittsburgh and Youngstown State University have been working to map and gather information about these currently unused pieces of Swissvale. Creating a map of these lots is the first step in transforming these underutilized spaces. The end product will be a valuable resource for Borough administration and residents to draw on to develop plans for improving Swissvale.  

Vacant Property Recovery Program

The Allegheny County Vacant Property Recovery Program (VPRP) acquires vacant, blighted properties and conveys them to applicants who have developed both: 

• A concrete reuse plan 
• Demonstrated the capacity to implement it

Applicants may include individuals, municipalities, community groups, local businesses, and private and nonprofit developers. The application is linked below. For more information visit the Allegheny County website.

Vacant Property and Foreclosure Registration 

Swissvale Borough has partnered with Hera Property Registry, LLC to administer its Foreclosure and Vacant Property Registration program. In order to comply with the Ordinance, all Owners/Mortgagees/Trustees must register online via HERA Property Registry and pay a registration fee.
